Dr. Gunduz awarded Denice Denton Emerging Leader ABIE Award by the Anita Borg Institute

Congratulations to Dr. Gunduz who is the 2017 recipient of the Denice Denton Emerging Leader ABIE Award. The Anita Borg Institute ABIE (pronounced ab-ee) Awards honor distinguished women who view technology innovation as a strategic imperative. The Denice Denton Emerging Leader ABIE Award recognizes a junior faculty member for high-quality research and significant positive impact on diversity. The award honors the life and career of Professor Denice Denton (1959 – 2006), a woman engineering faculty member and the first female dean of a school of engineering in a major U.S. research university. Dr. Denton worked throughout her life to give minorities a voice and to make engineering attractive to women and minorities, strongly promoted diversity in higher education, and helped many people break barriers and find their path in life.

Dr. Gunduz will be presented the award at the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration for Women in Computing Oct. 4-6, 2017. A press release from the Anita Borg Institute can be found here, and a UF BME release can be reached here.
